ABOUT US:

The Charlottesville-Albemarle Rescue Squad (CARS) provides primary rescue and emergency medical services to the City of Charlottesville, the University of Virginia and most of Albemarle County.

CARS is a 100% volunteer rescue department with approximately 120 active members. No one in our organization receives compensation of any kind for their work. The department is headed operationally by a Rescue Chief and administratively, by a President.

CARS has over 100 personnel trained in ALS and over 60 certified at the EMT-B level.
