Operates with the same job description as an
EMT-B with the added skills of the intermediate training.
The EMT-I is expected to be capable of functioning
competently as a driver. The standard of practice for the
EMT-I shall be in accordance with the most current US
Department of Transportation “Emergency Medical
Technician-Intermediate: National Standard Curriculum”, as
modified by the State Department of Health Office of
Emergency Medical Services and local EMS authority.
A. Must meet the Core Job Functions and Job Qualification
Standards for Field Operations Personnel as described in the
Standard Operating Procedure manual.
B. Must be able to fulfill all duties and requirements of
EMT-Basic job description.
C. Unless otherwise specified, the guidelines for clinical
competency for EMT-Intermediate shall be as published in the
current EMT-Intermediate text by Brady American Heart
Association guidelines shall supersede.
D. Must be currently State and Nationally registered as
EMT-I.
E. Must possess a current driver’s license in the State
where the Business Unit is located except where exempt by
State regulation.
F. Currently licensed as EMS-Driver with DEMS.
G. Current adult and child CPR certification from AHA.
H. Full-time employees must be available for recall in times
of crisis.
I. Must have an acceptable driving record as determined by
the Company and outlined in the Standard Operating Procedure
manual.
J. In States where required, must possess a current Class D
driver’s license.
K. Must be at least 18 years old.
